LOVELY MORNING !
bonjour...buongiorno...good morning...guten Tag...buenos dias
Dawn was almost pure gold this morning on Venice lagoon.
It made me remember an Italian proverb "Il mattino ha l'oro in bocca": literally it means that there's gold in morning's mouth. The real meaning, of course, is that every morning brings new opportunities or at least new hopes and possibilities.
I'm not overly fond of jewelry, so gold as adornment doesn't mean much to me.
But it's a noble metal and its history is fascinating, although almost always mingled with blood and the extermination of whole populations.
Agamemnon
Maya Calendar
Eldorado
Quoted by mathematicians and scientists in their quest for knowledge (the Golden Ratio or Divine Proportion), it has also been at the center of more intimate research such as the genuine alchemical journey meant as a quest for inner perfection.
It has also been a source of inspiration for legends, tales, history and artistic achievements
Judgement of Paris by J. Wtewael (1615)
I won't quote Goldfinger movie (too obvious)
or Leprechauns and their pot of gold at the end of the rainbow (too easy)
but I'd like to quote this performance by Ennio Morricone: The Ecstasy of Gold
Of course, "all that glisters is not gold" (thank you Mr. Shakespeare!) ...but sometimes it's quite enjoyable
if taken in small doses
Nature Morte (Still Life)
...and one very much alive (hey, I'm joking !)
golden sandals with straps
golden toenails
and matching shorts.
She maybe exceeded in pearls, but if it makes her happy ...
Would you like to be the one to try this Goldilocks's bed ?
(Another tale to re-read)
I definitely think your answer is "yesssssssss"
(Thank you for your self-control)
New toys ?
Some romance ?
Golden reflections in the silence
and maybe, the morning after....
petit déjeuner with golden baguettes
Happy Sunday !
