YELLOW...

Curiously enough, we usually associate yellow with sun (that is anything but yellow).
It's also a colour largely present in nature that usually imparts a feeling of joy and positivity.

Tulips and....much, much more. Some yellow flowers can brighten the gloomiest days in winter.

In fashion, the paler tones are more suitable for fair skins
and the pure chrome yellow for tanned or darker complexions

Lovely to be seen in some traditional attires such as this bridal dress

or kimonos
(I have the feeling I know this person !)
It's not largely used in lingerie (with some exceptions)
but it is one of all-time favourites in swimwear
in a kind of hide-and-seek style

or don't-seek-I-show-you-all.
(ehm)
*
Perfect for some little summer dresses, blouses, sarong, beachwear...
*
Yellow boots and gloves are almost always associated with helmets and visibility jackets as used for safety purposes
However, in come cases....boots have a totally different aim than to protect !
*
I would say it's a NO-NO-ABSOLUTELY-NO for men's wear, except for ties.
BRRRR...Absolute libido-killing !!! (This means NO, just in case someone didn't understand !)
Lovely shades of yellow to brighten a dark suit.
*
Accessories require some poise to be worn and  Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth is one of the persons who can wear them most gracefully.
But then, she would, wouldn't she ? Noblesse oblige. After all, yellow was the imperial colour in ancient China and only the Emperor and a few persons close to him he personally chose had the privilege to wear it.
Rare are the artifacts made of yellow porcelain or glazed terra from that far-away era
Like this glazed dish of the Yongzheng period

or this imperial yellow monochrome Peking glass of the 19th century
or again this incense-burner
No photo of the Yellow River ! It's all but yellow,so let's forget about it.
In the animal world, if we say yellow, our mind goes usually to birds
Lovely ducklings and chickens

(and yellow is eggs' yolk ...I almost forgot!)
but there are also other species, like tropical fish
or snakes
*
When it comes to food, yellow usually means carotenoids and is excellent for our well-being. It's also quite appealing and appetizing.

Two traditional Italian recipes are typically yellow (mainly cooked in Autumn-Winter):
Risotto alla Milanese (Italian rice cooked with the usual ingredients plus saffron)
and polenta (water, salt and mais flour)

*
Yellow drinks usually look and taste fresh and thirst-quenching
unless we talk about wine, of course !
In home decoration, it should be used with some parsimony ; it seems an excess of it can be too stimulating. So I would say no to this decoration

and yes to this one
I'm also not very fond about yellow bedlinen but...it's not ALWAYS an absolute rule.
*
Yellow gems are largely mistaken one for another and often are defined  as topaz stones although most of them aren't.
*
Aggressively sportish on bikes and some cars
Helpful in many ways
It's the symbol of one of the great traditional Springtime races, le Tour de France
and, on a more jocular note, it's one of the best-known submarines
*
Among Van Gogh's favourite colours
it's also one of mine, as in this drawing by Jean Cocteau
Well...I'll wish you now a lovely Sunday, with a drink, some flowers and a special smile
