INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

A sensitive subject.
I usually quote, or copy for this blog,  music or texts I legally bought and wish to share with same-minded persons.
There's no doubt that any creator, composer, writer is entitled to have his efforts rewarded by Author's rights.
Let's not forget that, before Author's Rights Laws, geniuses such as Wolfgang Amedeus Mozart and Antonio Vivaldi (who are still among the best selling composers) died in poverty and were buried in Paupers'Fields.

Let's never forget that artists live on royalties.
Each single pirated copy is a step back for them.
And life is often so short.
Even for geniuses.

JE PENSE DONC JE SUIS

I think
Therefore
I am

Nonody can think in my place
Nobody can believe in my place
Nobody can plan, live and generate
In my place

Descartes (Cartesius) understood it centuries ago.
We have gone back hundreds and hundreds of years in history
With so-called Islamic Terrorists
Using the same methods as
Catholic Inquisition was using

In the end
Religion is a weapon
And
We need to destroy the weapon
With reason
With well-being
With a sense of belonging
All together
For our future
and
Above all for our Children's
Tomorrow

GOD IS THE ENEMY

In all times
In his name
An unknown number of people
Were
Killed,
Tortured,
Tormented,
Discriminitated
Where is the God of Beauty
Where is the God of Goodness
Where is the God of Mankind
God is a lie
The only reason
Is
In our Reason
In
Our Brain.

Pending that
That brain hasn't been
Brainwashed
and
Indoctrinated

CASUAL FRIDAY: THE WHITE SHIRT

There's Friday morning

There's Friday evening
In the evening, there's nothing better than a lengthy, forgetful shower
And then, a fresh white shirt (and nothing else)
A glass of red or bubbling wine

And oblivion of all silly everyday's problems

In the evening, it's all about oneself, what was lost and what remains

PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE WEEK

There's no photographer this week but a wonderful site with vintage pictures, named "I Heart Vintage".
The site is HERE.
This is the beginning
This is the final result as we can enjoy it nowadays.
Hereinafter you can find the whole sequence that
- for obvious reasons - I find wonderful and highly thrilling:
it's titled "Building The Tour Eiffel"

SHAME ON ME !

Sole would never have forgotten that, on September 21st,  Leonard Cohen had his 79th birthday.
I just realized it after a message from a friend.
I apologize and, to make up for it, here comes one of Sole's favourite songs by that wonderful poet, artist, singer

SHE LOVED BAROQUE MUSIC

Today's Google about Foucault Pendulum made me think of  Sole's love for all curious, incredible, unbelievable (yet true) things that brought us to Modern Age. She loved Umberto Eco's novel.
For this event, I'm proposing  selection of music that, although not of that time, recalls such achievements
And She's there.
Of course.

RANDOM (AND POSSIBLY CONTROVERSIAL) THOUGHTS

In answer to some comments I received concerning the position of Mr. Obama re.Syria.
First of all, I have a great admiration for the USA, their entrepreneurial capacity, sense of freedom and ideals.
I love the United States of America.
But (there's always a "but") are today's government's decisions up to such ideals ?
I can't help being moved when I read the first words of the United States of America's Constitution:
"We, The People".
I can't help singing their anthem when it's broadcasted.
Yes, indeed, this makes my throat get tight.
But are todays' decisions up to such high ideals ?
How can a Freedom-based Nation state that democracy has to be imposed on other countries
when it's still not completely achieved at home ?
Europe has a great debt of gratitude to pay to the USA.
But this doesn't mean all decisions, whatever they are, must be approved blindingly.
If we didn't discuss decisions that have a heavy impact on our territories, we'd be slaves and not partners.
"We, The People" means we're not slaves, subjects, things to be dealt with.
"We, The People" means we have the right to speak our mind.
So we do.

PETS TIME: AS A SYMBOL & THEIR WISDOM PROMPTING RANDOM THOUGHTS

This is President Obama in his re-election campaign

This is President Obama after his re-election campaign.

I'm sorry to say Obama is a big disappointment despite my penchant for the Democratic Party.
Good that I didn't raise my hopes too high when he was elected and then re-elected.
Guantanamo is still there and his military actions have brought only misery to the people of the countries where USA fought the so-called humanitarian wars.

But realpolitik always wins and he probably still has to pay some debts to the lobbies that had him re-elected, among which armament companies.
How long shall USA fight wars that have seemingly no end and the only result of which is to hand over whole countries to fundamentalists and coffins of fighting fine young men back to America ?

Don't tell me that democracy is based on votes. Then you would have to say that Ceausescu, Hitler, Mussolini, the dynasty of Kims of North Korea, Pol Pot, etc had been democratically elected as they usually gathered 98% of votes.
Dictators rely on ignorance, illiteracy, terror, religion, corruption.
I'd rather have a Mubarak than a Morsi in Egypt; a Saddam Husseyn than the current, never-ending butchery in Iraq; etc..etc...

Do the USA really want to hand over also Syria to the local branch of Iran-piloted extremist puppets?
All in all, USA have been playing right into the hands of the extremist parties sharing the creed and the systems of extremist-based governments..
Did Afghanistan, Iraq, Lybia teach nothing to those high-level "geniuses" in the think-room ?
It wouldn't be a bad idea to watch again the film "Dr. Strangelove". Much to learn from it.

NIGHT-TIME AND NOSTALGY

And with nostalgy come back old songs Sole and I loved to listen to whilst we were caring for our little rabbit friends (but far from their hearing...they're so sensitive)

FOR MY LADY SOLE

I can't let a day, an hour, a moment, go by without thinking of you.
You're with me at all times.

HER SECOND HOME

(Photo by Gilles Caron-Twiggy Place du Trocadero March 1967)
More info about Gilles Caron HERE and HERE

Back again in Paris.
Each time I'm here, I feel her presence.
She loved Paris as much as she loved Venice and Treviso.
I stroll along Avenue de Suffren and stop where she had a flat.
Now there's a different name on the ring-button.
I feel tears filling my eyes and I walk away.

THE PROUD REDHEAD

She would have been 38 years old this 12th of July.
Maybe I should say 38 years young,
considering her never failing energy, curiosity, enthusiasm and strength.
Her love of life for every living being, human and animal alike.
Her open-mindedness about new worlds, light-years away from us.
Her polyhedric personality that allowed a much larger understanding
with everyone despite differences of religion, belief and point of view.
She seemed to understand everybody and everybody's reasons.
She could also be very hard against intolerance and lack of human kindness.
And even harder against stupidity.
She couldn't bear morons and extremists and didn't mind to tell them
what she thought of them. Even in public events.
Wherever you have gone, sail well, my Sole !

PERSPIRING

It's a well known fact that men sweat and mistresses, ladylikely* , perspire. Especially on a day like this one with low clouds, high humidity rate and 31°C in the shadow.

*(Merriam-Webster dictionary doesn't "understand" this word but I'm sure everybody else does, at least in this blog)

I loved Sole's posts about weather, among others  :-)

FRIENDSHIP AND LOVE

Friendship and love are also made of the differences between two persons.
Loving things you would have thought you'd never love
Things you then see with the eyes of the person you love
A landscape
A painting
A composer
A song
This was one of Sole's favourite songs
It's one of mine...now

And so it is
Just like you said it would be
Life goes easy on me
Most of the time
And so it is
The shorter story
No love, no glory
No hero in her sky

I can't take my eyes off of you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off of you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes...

And so it is
Just like you said it should be
We'll both forget the breeze
Most of the time
And so it is
The colder water
The blower's daughter
The pupil in denial

I can't take my eyes off of you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off of you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes...

Did I say that I loathe you?
Did I say that I want to
Leave it all behind?

I can't take my mind off of you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind off of you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind...
My mind...my mind...
'Til I find somebody new

MY SOLE

I was born to love you
Forever
And
Ever
So sad to think his marketing agency convinced him he had to make this video whilst having a totally different view when it came to sex.
It's anyway a great legacy when it comes to music

REMEMBERING-2

There is a little beach place Sole loved so much.
(I didn't share Her preference for it at the time)
It's an old fishermen's village called Caorle, not far from Venice.
I never understood why She loved it so much,
But out of love for Her, I went there yesterday
And I viewed it with Her eyes

A simple, peaceful place.
With a historical background
With a very long and wide beach of soft and fine-grained sand
With few people
With a long promenade made of rocks sculptured by many artists
With an incredible view of the Adriatic Sea
She loved it when it was not yet season and there were few people around.
Like now.
Why, my Sole, didn't I share more of it with you when there was still time ?

INFINITY

Yes, infinity...
As in the timeless rythm
Of tides
Nothing gentle about these tides.
Northern waters go and come
As winds blow relentlessly
With increasing fury and speed
Shells are being left behind
Along with rigged patterns
On the shore.
Northern, cold wind is
At the same time
Strong and vivifying
And I can almost view
A mane of red hair
There
In the wind
And your smile. Your laughter.
Afraid of nothing, as you were.
It hurts.
I awefully miss you
I'm sometimes angry that you left us
But always with love.
My Sole
