AN INTERESTING EXPERIENCE
So ended my second experience with a Forum. I first participated in SecondLife Forum and enjoyed it immensely till their change to the Lithium platform. It then turned what was a witty, funny and interesting forum into a rather sterylized environment. I can understand that the arrival of teens made this move unavoidable but ...there could have been other solutions.
I joined GotVirtual ( after a couple of 24-48 hours tries at two other Forums - one of which was Lithium) after reading some of the threads. I found there was a variety of opinions, topics and participants and a wide space given by the (few but sufficient) Governance rules. I decided to join and found the experience exhilarating. Lots of freedom and interesting and witty Posters.
That is until a kind of war erupted for reasons that I hardly could understand (probably due to my lack of forum experience). The why's and the reasons seemed to have no longer room. Only insults over insults. So much intelligence wasted (and I don't refer to Wasted Engineer who seemed at one point almost like fresh water if compared to the filth which was flying from one side to the other).
True to my beliefs, I just expressed my sadness at seeing what was happening and decided to leave.
Most sorry for Nina, above all. I know what it takes to start and build something. I know how you feel when somebody does his/her best to destroy what you're building. Particularly if this happens for no reason at all or for futile reasons dressed up as reasonable requests. Sometimes just to prove him/herself clever.
And here I am, with my thoughts, trying to say something about myself and ready to listen to others who can speak without shouting, insulting, etc.
I'll talk of various things, as per my opening lines in the title and shall gladly read your opinion, even if in contrast with mine. But remember! Discussions are one thing and insults are another.
