PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE WEEK : BRIDGES

I always loved and admired bridges, since I was a child (no, no..I'm not going pathetic).
I built them with an old mechano game (that was real steelwork, before the plastic Lego things) I got from my grandfather.
This is about bridges, always a challenge to architects and engineers.
This is about bridges that connect people (and sometimes disconnect them when they become, as in cold-war Berlin, a point of prisoners' exchange).
This sequence will show real bridges: ancient, newly built, and some projects. Some were destroyed and rebuilt. Some I didn't quote as they are all too well known (Roman bridges, Venice bridges not to speak of the London bridge and its singsong and the Niagara Falls Bridge).
They all have in common one thing: a visionary beauty.
